Lubrizol has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Polyhose to set up the facility.
Lubrizol Corporation, a US-based, provider of specialty chemicals has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Polyhose, a provider of fluid delivery systems, to build a medical tube manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, India.
The proposed facility is anticipated to begin construction in 2025 and is expected to begin operations in 2026. About 200 jobs are anticipated to be created by the facility, which will be situated in Kelambakkam, Chennai.
The MoU, which follows a long-standing partnership between the two organizations, was signed in the presence of Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Industries, Investment Promotions and Commerce Dr. T. R. B. Rajaa and the state’s Industry Secretary V Arun Roy. After the signing, Lubrizol also contacted Tamil Nadu’s Chief Secretary N. Muruganadam.
The new facility aims to increase Lubrizol’s local medical tubing volume fivefold. Lubrizol wants the site to facilitate access to life-saving medical tubing through local distribution in India and exports to international markets.
Rebecca Liebert, president and CEO, Lubrizol, said the facility will “reduce reliance on imports to service medical device need” in India while allowing the firm to expand into new markets.
She added that India was a “hub for Lubrizol’s innovation and growth”. She emphasised that the firm’s “ongoing investment highlights [their] dedication to local-for-local and local-for-global strategy in India.”
