Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, unveiled the Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform at the Bharat Climate Forum 2025 in New Delhi. This initiative aims to boost India’s leadership in cleantech value chains, particularly in solar, wind, hydrogen, and battery storage sectors.
During his address, Shri Goyal emphasized the importance of innovation and scalability, stating that while Product Linked Incentives (PLIs) can help initiate growth in the clean energy sector, the long-term goal should be self-sustainability, independent of government subsidies.
The Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform is designed to foster collaboration among Indian firms, encouraging co-innovation, financing, and resource sharing. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of establishing 500 GW of clean energy sources by 2030. Shri Goyal noted that India has already achieved 200 GW of clean energy and is well-positioned to meet its targets under the Paris Agreement, staying ahead of its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
Highlighting the affordability of solar power in India, Shri Goyal credited the government’s transparency and competitive auction processes. He also praised Gujarat’s early adoption of solar energy, showcasing the state’s commitment to combating climate change.
This platform underscores India’s ambition to become a global leader in sustainability by leveraging speed, scale, and skill in the renewable energy domain.
