Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday, urged Indian industries not to remain mere spectators but to take a leading role in global supply chains, emphasising that India has the potential to be a trusted hub for high-quality products.
During a webinar with policymakers, experts, and industry leaders on the Union Budget, the Prime Minister discussed the geopolitical uncertainties shaping the global economy and how these present a significant opportunity for Indian manufacturers. “The world today is facing political uncertainty. In this context, there is a clear need for a trusted source of high-quality products with reliable supply chains. India is well-positioned to fulfil this need, and this represents a huge opportunity for us,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of active industry participation, Modi urged businesses to go beyond passive observation. “I do not want our industry to be mere spectators. We cannot afford to just watch from the sidelines. Industry must define its role and proactively seek out opportunities,” he said.
He reassured that the government is fully committed to supporting industries in this endeavour. “Compared to earlier times, this is much easier now. India has developed friendly policies that encourage industrial growth. Today, the government stands firmly beside the industry,” he added, reinforcing his vision of an India that is deeply integrated into the global supply chain.

Encouraging a proactive approach, Modi urged businesses to take incremental steps toward contributing to this transformation. “With strong resolve and clear objectives, we must embrace the challenge of integrating into global supply chains. Every industry should move forward, step by step,” he said.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come at a time when India is increasingly seen as a viable alternative to established global manufacturing giants. With strategic initiatives such as Make in India, Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, and a strong focus on infrastructure development, India is positioning itself as a key player in global trade.
