<p>NEW DELHI: The Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS), under the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) and the Ministry of Defence, on Tuesday hosted the second edition of the <a id=Defence Literature Festival ‘Kalam & Kavach 2.0’ at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. Themed ‘Securing India’s Rise through Defence Reforms’, the event spotlighted India’s transformative journey toward becoming a self-reliant and technology-driven military power.Held in collaboration with Pentagon Press, the festival brought together strategic thinkers, Armed Forces leaders, defence policymakers, and industry experts to deliberate on cutting-edge developments shaping India’s defence capabilities. Key sessions explored the role of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, cyber defence, quantum computing, semiconductors, drones, and space systems in modern warfare.Aligned with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) vision, the discussions addressed critical areas such as defence manufacturing, acquisition and procurement reforms, and building a resilient domestic defence ecosystem. The event also emphasized the need for multi-domain integration across land, air, sea, cyber, and space to secure India’s long-term strategic interests.The event took place in the backdrop of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s declaration of 2025 as the ‘Year of Reforms’, aimed at fast-tracking India’s evolution into a combat-ready, tech-driven force. The mission-mode approach emphasizes deeper public-private partnerships, streamlined technology transfer, and a roadmap to enhance operational readiness through niche innovations.By linking literature, strategic discourse, and defence innovation, Kalam & Kavach 2.0 reflected India’s growing emphasis on shaping its national security through informed thought leadership and sustained reforms.
