India and Saudi Arabia Deepen Crude Oil and LPG Partnership

New Delhi, April 23 (KNN) Saudi Arabia and India have agreed to enhance cooperation in crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas supplies, marking a significant step in their growing energy partnership.

The agreement followed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the kingdom, according to a joint statement issued by the Saudi state news agency on Wednesday.

Saudi Arabia, a key oil supplier to India, reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering energy ties with the world’s third-largest oil importer.

The two nations are seeking greater energy security and stability through closer collaboration.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss a range of bilateral issues.

However, Modi had to cut short his trip and return to New Delhi following a deadly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed 26 lives — the deadliest attack in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Beyond energy, both sides agreed to deepen defence cooperation, particularly in joint defence manufacturing, and strengthen ties in agriculture and food security. The joint statement also highlighted shared efforts in counter-terrorism.

“The two countries welcomed the excellent cooperation between the two sides in counter-terrorism and terror financing,” the statement read.

The visit, though shortened, underscored the strategic importance of the Saudi-India partnership, particularly in areas of mutual security and economic interest.
