Indian Railways, with its impressive 115,000 kilometers of track, boasts the largest railway network in Asia and secures the title of second largest in the world, all administered by one central authority. The first passenger train services of India started way back in 1853. Covering a stretch of 33 km from Mumbai to Thane, the train carried 400 passengers. Interestingly, this day was also declared a public holiday.

Here is a piece of good news that has the capacity to change the stature of Indian Railways forever. Indian Railways is planning to launch a train inspired by Japan’s Shinkansen E5 train. The high-speed train is likely to be 320 kilometers per hour. However, the commercial operating speed of the train will be kept at 250 kilometers per hour only. The new train will be India’s indigenous bullet train and its entire manufacturing will be done in India itself, which is likely to start by the end of the year.
First trial run of Mumbai-Ahmedabad track
The first trial run of the train is scheduled on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad track. This is set to be India’s very own locally made bullet train, with all production processes happening right here in India. It’s anticipated to start functioning by the year’s end.
As per reports, the blueprint for the India’s fastest trains which is almost ready and the final details of the train are expected to be released by the Indian Railways very soon.
According to the information received from the senior officials of Indian Railways, after the construction of this train starts, it may take about 2 years for it to become operational. That is, if its construction starts at the end of 2024, then the train may start operating by around 2027. However, complete information has not been revealed about when the operation will start by 2027 and the construction of the train will be completed.
