It aims to support the Make in India initiative and will focus on small, medium, and large industries. Key areas of emphasis include quality products, ease of doing business, a future-ready workforce, a vibrant MSME sector, and the availability of technology.
The Indian government has set up an interministerial committee to outline the framework for the National Manufacturing Mission, aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing. The committee will be led by BVR Subrahmanyam, CEO of NITI Aayog, with consultations already underway with states and industry stakeholders, government sources said.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had stated that the mission would promote clean tech manufacturing, with a focus on improving domestic value addition and building an ecosystem for solar PV cells, EV batteries, motors, wind turbines, and more. The government has already introduced
production-linked incentives (PLI) for sectors such as solar modules, electrolysers, and EV batteries.
