Pune, 14th March 2025: The world should be our marketplace and we should make products but India’s need has to be thoroughly satisfied first, says India’s top industrialist and chairman of Kinetic group, Arun Firodia.
Addressing the seventh Foundation Day celebration of DY Patil International University, Akurdi, Pune, he said that India gives you an opportunity which you may not find anywhere in the world, adding that “I see a great future for India.”
Sharing his experience at IIT, Firodia said, “I knew about India in IIT Bombay where I interacted with people from all over India.”
Also, he shared his experience of manufacturing India’s first moped, Kinetic Luna, way back in the early seventies.
He launched a book, ‘100 Great IITians: Dedicated to the service of the nation’ edited by Cdr VK Jaitly. The book celebrates the remarkable achievements of 100 Great IITians who refused to be lured by the West and contributed significantly to India’s growth. With a commitment to the service of the nation, these IITians have left an indelible mark on India’s progress.
In his remark, Prof Prabhat Ranjan, an alumnus of IIT and founder Vice Chancellor of DYPIU, said, “Now DYPIU is recognised as a trendsetter in the higher education circle.” He added further that here we give emphasis on digital and the future. In the forthcoming academic session, the University will start B.Sc. Economics and B.A. Linguistics and a Centre for Generative AI, a 33-floor hostel will be operational very soon, he said.
Among the dignitaries that were present on the occasion include, DYP Pratisthan Trustee Tejas S Patil, Lt Admiral (Rtd) Vinod Pasricha, Lt Gen (Rtd) Shokin Chauhan, Achyut Godbole, Arvind Gupta, and Anand Deshpande.
